Scrimpr Direct Debits
£1 Direct Debit
If you find Scrimpr helpful and want to support my work, you can set up a £1 monthly direct debit. It only takes a few clicks, set up within 3 working days, and the the first payment processes in around 5 business days.
Choose your amount
If you want to support Scrimpr with a larger contribution, then you can setup a monthly direct debit and choose the amount! This really helps me keep the Scrimpr website running.
Each direct debit option above sets up a single monthly contribution to support Scrimpr's work. There are currently two different amounts so you can choose the level of support that works for you, and easily track your contributions. If you want to increase your support, you can set up multiple direct debits at any amount (for example, two £1 contributions for £2 total monthly support). You can also set up a 50p direct debit here, but it does not come with subscription management or support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Scrimpr / BeermoneyUK direct debits.
Our Direct Debit service is designed to help you easily support Scrimpr's ongoing development. By setting up a regular direct debit, you support new content and tools!
We use Stripe (https://stripe.com/gb) to process your payments securely. Once you sign up, we will set up a small regular direct debit – 50p, £1, or a value of your choosing from your bank account. This ensures you can support Scrimpr for however much you can afford.
Either 50p or £1 or the amount you choose. Payment is taken monthly, and you can cancel at any time.
Yes, your payment information is processed securely through Stripe, a leading payment processing platform. Stripe complies with the highest standards of security and encryption to keep your data safe.
Not at the moment. Payments are taken monthly. We might add options such as weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Setting up a direct debit is easy and done is a few simple clicks. Just choose the direct debit you want to set up and you will be taken to the Stripe platform to provide your bank details.
I have just integrated a new Stripe Subscription Portal where you should be able to cancel your Scrimpr subscription. However, it's new and has some limitations.
Important: If you have multiple subscriptions, the portal will only display one of them. If this applies to you, or if you experience any issues with the portal, please contact us instead.
Other ways to cancel your direct debit:
- Fill out our cancellation form: Cancel Direct Debit
Please note, you must submit the form at least 3 working days before your payment date, as direct debits are processed in advance. - Cancel through your bank: You can cancel the payment directly from your banking app or website. Alternatively, you can contact your bank by phone.
If you cancel through your bank:
You may still receive a notification from Stripe the following month. This happens because your bank doesn't automatically notify Stripe about the cancellation. Here's what occurs:
- 1: You cancel with your bank, but the bank does not inform Stripe. Your bank is instructed to block the transaction.
- 2: The following month, Stripe tries to collect payment. They will email you, but it’s not a new direct debit — it’s the old one that Stripe hasn't yet recognized as cancelled.
- 3: Your bank blocks the payment. Stripe’s system is updated to cancel the subscription.
If you experience any issues, please reach out at hello@scrimpr.co.uk.
No, there is no long-term commitment. You can use our service for as long or as short a period as you need. You are free to cancel at any time.
Once the direct debit is set up, you will receive a confirmation email. You can also check the status of your direct debits with your bank.
Yes, you can set up multiple direct debits if needed. Simply add additional direct debits through our website.

There are two options. It depends on which bank you are switching to.
- During the application process. Many banks will ask if you want to switch an account during the application process. If so, just enter the details of your old account and the Current Account Switch Service will take care of the rest.
- Once your new account is open. Some banks require you to fill in a form after you have opened your new account. You just need to fill in your old and new account details, and then everything will be sorted automatically.
Usually, just the following three things:
- Sort code and account number.
- Debit card information
- Usually, but not always, 2 active direct debits on the account you are switching.
No. But it might be a good idea – this will allow you to see when the switch happens (i.e. when the money is transferred!). Also, any money transferred as part of the switch will count towards any deposit requirements for your new account.
Most online forms require card details, and some banks will cancel switch applications if you do not give card details. But you can usually switch such accounts over the phone.
Best not to. You are asked to enter the debit card information as part of the process.
Yes. Only the current account will be closed (some linked regular savers may be converted to normal savings accounts). You might want to consider if switching a secondary account is a better option. Also, some banks will block a switch if you have a linked savings product open (e.g. Chase).
Possibly. But it depends.
Unfortunately, banks keep their acceptance criteria a secret. You might be unlucky with one bank, but lucky with another.
No. You do not need to keep the online access (you could shut it down). But you may wish to retain these details in case your old bank suddenly appears with an offer that makes you want to switch back. Or open up a savings account.
Nobody out with the bank knows. You could try appealing, but your only way to find out more is to contact the bank.
Sometimes automated checks fail. If this happens, you may be asked to manually verify your application by visiting a branch or sending in a copy of your ID.
No. You can downgrade the account. But you should probably wait until you have been paid the bonus.
Usually, these are sent via post/email when you sign up. But some banks don't have the account numbers on the card, or maybe letters get lost in the post. If this happens, wait for the card to arrive and contact their support. If you get a bot on the chat thing, type “speak to a human” repeatedly.
