Most UK utility providers — energy, broadband, mobile, TV — have some kind of sign-up offer or switching bonus. Since you’re paying for these services anyway, it’s worth checking what’s available before you renew or switch.
I’ve listed the current offers below. A lot of these work particularly well when combined with cashback sites — you can often get cashback on top of the provider’s own welcome deal.
Good to know:
Always compare the underlying tariff or contract, not just the sign-up bonus. A £50 welcome offer means nothing if you’re overpaying by £20 a month. Referral links often give better deals than going direct, and cashback sites frequently have additional offers on top.

How to Get the Best Deal
Compare the actual tariff first. The sign-up bonus is a nice extra, but the monthly cost is what matters long-term. Use comparison sites to check you’re getting a competitive rate, then look for the best sign-up offer on top.
Check cashback sites before switching.TopCashback and similar sites often pay £30-£100+ for switching energy, broadband or mobile. This stacks with the provider’s own welcome offer in most cases.
Referral links beat going direct. Many providers give both you and the referrer a bonus when you sign up through a referral link. The offers in the table above use these where available.
Time your switches. The best time to switch is when your current contract ends — you’ll avoid early exit fees and have the most bargaining power. Set a reminder a month before your contract expires.
What Types of Offers Are Available?
Energy suppliers like Octopus Energy, OVO and British Gas run referral bonuses (typically £50-£100 credit each) when you switch. Some also offer smart meter bonuses or fixed-rate deals. Use the Octopus Energy Tracker to compare tariffs.
Broadband providers compete aggressively for new customers — cashback offers, free setup, or gift cards are common when switching. The best deals usually appear when your current contract is ending.
Mobile networks offer cashback, free data boosts, or discounted first months. Pay attention to whether the offer is for SIM-only or contract, and check what happens to the price after any introductory period.
TV and streaming services regularly run free trial periods or bundled deals with broadband. Worth checking if your broadband provider offers a cheaper bundle before signing up separately.
Before You Switch
Check your current contract. Switching mid-contract usually means paying an early exit fee. Make sure the saving from switching outweighs any penalties.
Note what’s included. A cheaper broadband deal might have slower speeds or data caps. A cheaper energy tariff might be variable rate. Read what you’re actually signing up for.
Keep proof of the offer. Screenshot the deal before you sign up. If a welcome bonus doesn’t appear, you’ll need evidence of what was promised.

Why some links have an *
When you click a link with an * and sign up, I get paid a small commission from the provider — usually a few pounds, sometimes more. That's how Scrimpr stays free and how I pay for the time I put into it.
Worth knowing:
It doesn't affect what I recommend. Plenty of platforms I rate highly don't pay me anything. The order is what I'd tell my mum.
You don't pay anything extra. Many of the * links unlock a sign-up bonus you wouldn't get going direct.
If you'd rather not use my link, just search the platform name yourself — same product, same price, just no commission for me. No hard feelings.
When a competitor's link gives you a better bonus than mine, I'll tell you. Look for the “Better bonus elsewhere” callouts — I get nothing if you take those, and you should.
Different sites pay wildly different amounts for the same thing — one might pay £10 cashback whilst another pays £15. I like to make the most of things, and I got tired of opening ten apps to compare every time. So I built these tools. They check 30+ sites each day and show you which one is paying the most.
The links in this tool are refer-a-friend links — the same referral mechanic any user gets when they share their own code. When you sign up through one, the platform pays Scrimpr a small referral bonus, the same as if a friend had referred you. That's what keeps the tool free.
Worth knowing:
Ranking of each site is by what the platform pays YOU. Whether Scrimpr earns a referral bonus doesn't affect the order — it's purely the user payout.
I do highlight certain offers, which are usually ones I have taken part in myself.
Your rewards are the same whether you use my links or not, but many of my links unlock a sign-up bonus you wouldn't get going direct.
Don't want to use my link? Just search the platform name yourself. You will get access to the exact same offers shown here. No hard feelings.
