These are the 10 main sites and apps I actually use to earn extra money. It’s not a generic list of “try surveys” that every other website pushes. These are the platforms I open on my phone or laptop every day, the ones that have reliably paid me, and the ones I recommend to the r/beermoneyuk community. Between them, I earn around at least £100 per month with minimal effort (and usually a lot more!).
1. Get Paid to Play Games with Gemsloot
Gemsloot is my favourite sites. It’s a cashback reward website that gives rewards to people completing a variety of tasks, also known as a “get-paid-to” site. It works in the same way as Freecash and Swagbucks, but I think it works much better. It also has exclusive offers that other sites do not have, especially for PC games. And one of the best things about it is that it shows which offers other users have recently been paid for, so you can see what is actually worth doing before you start.
If you are outside the UK, then you can withdraw via Roobet (crypto casino) to get a 20% bonus on your withdrawal. The minimum cashout is just £0.40, and payouts are instant.
Use code “beermoney” when signing up for a random bonus. You can find the bonus on the rewards page. You can also use the Scrimpr search engine to compare what Gemsloot pays versus other sites for any specific offer.
2. Get Paid to for Sign Up Offers with CashInStyle
CashInStyle is very similar to Gemsloot, but it has a lot more offers. It’s often one of the highest paying reward sites (most of them have the same offers, but pay can vary wildly). CashInStyle has 20+ offerwalls integrated, good surveys, and a £1.60 ($2) minimum cashout. If you are completing game offers or sign-up offers, CashInStyle should be one of the first sites you check.
Use the Scrimpr search engine to compare what CashInStyle pays versus other sites for any specific offer. It frequently comes out on top.
3. Get Cashback on all of your Online Spending with Topcashback
Topcashback is the UK’s most comprehensive cashback platform with over 6,000 retailers. They typically offer the highest rates and have reliable tracking and payouts. If you are buying anything online, check Topcashback first. You can use the Scrimpr cashback comparison tool to see which cashback site pays the most for any retailer.
The real savings come from stacking. Use Topcashback for online purchases, combine it with gift card cashback apps for in-store shopping, and always check before switching broadband, energy, or insurance. Most people save £150-300 per year with moderate effort.
My cashback guide gives a full rundown of all cashback methods. But the rules are simple: clear your cookies, click through from Topcashback, and complete your purchase in one session. Cash out from £0.01 via PayPal, bank transfer, or gift cards. For more tips, see the full guide to UK cashback sites.
4. Get Cashback on all of your In-store Spending with EverUp
EverUp is a cashback app that rewards you for prepaying for your shopping by purchasing gift cards. They have good rates on most supermarket and high street gift cards. Buy a gift card through the app, scan it at the till, and the cashback is instantly credited to your account. On top of the cashback, you earn coins that can be exchanged for cash or entered into prize draws.
The rates are competitive with JamDoughnut and other gift card apps. Check my supermarket gift card comparison tool for current rates across all platforms.
5. Earn money answering academic surveys tih Prolific
Prolific is the best survey site. It’s leagues above the rest. Unlike traditional survey sites, Prolific focuses on academic studies and research. The surveys are more interesting, you rarely get screened out, and there is a minimum hourly rate of £6.00 enforced across all studies. Many pay significantly more.
The key is keeping a Prolific tab open so you can catch studies quickly, as they fill up fast. Fill out your “About You” profile completely and honestly. Inconsistent answers can get you banned.
Some users earn over £1,000 a year. But my long-running average is about £50/month.
6. Earn Passive Income by Sharing Data with YouGov
YouGov is famous for political polls, but the real money is in YouGov Connections. Link your streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, YouTube) and earn £8 per month just for sharing viewing data. Link up to 3 bank accounts via Open Banking and earn another £5 per month. That is £13 per month for doing absolutely nothing after the initial setup.
The data sharing is the same level you already give to cashback apps and reward schemes. For example, if you have any cashback rewards via your bank account, then your data is already being sold to an external company in return for these cashback offers. But you can make real money doing the same thing with YouGov. Once setup, everything is automatic, though you have to refresh the connection every three months. You also get survey invites on top, which pay extra.
To get on the Connections panel, you need to sign up to YouGov first and complete a few surveys. The invite usually comes within a week. Cash out at £50 via bank transfer, PayPal, or gift cards. YouGov also works well alongside other data sharing apps like MSR.
7. Sell Your Data for Cash with MSR
MSR (Measure Protocol) pays you to upload data that companies like Google, Amazon, and TikTok are already collecting from you for free. The main earners are “Retro Data” tasks where you request your data from a platform, download it, and upload it to MSR.
Amazon pays £2.50, Google and Facebook pay £1.20 each, Instagram and TikTok pay £1.00 each. You can do each one once per week. If you have a Sky TV subscription, you can join their TV viewing panel for even more.
Payments go to PayPal or gift cards once you hit £10. The app is not perfect but it pays reliably. If you are already giving your data away to these platforms, you might as well get paid for it. MSR works well alongside other data sharing apps like YouGov.
8. Take Surveys Without Getting Screened Out with PaidViewpoint
PaidViewpoint is the survey site that never screens you out. Every survey you are invited to is based on your profile, so you almost always qualify. Even on the rare occasion you do not fully qualify, you still get paid a smaller amount. You always get something.
The surveys are quick and simple. The downside is it is slow. It took me about 2 months to hit the withdrawal threshold the first time. But once you are established, your profile score increases and you get more invites. Payouts go to PayPal, Amazon vouchers, or Tesco vouchers.
It is a slow burner, but I have never been screened out of a survey. That alone makes it worth having on your phone. For more options, see the full list of survey apps and survey sites.
9. Answer Quick Polls for Cash with OnePulse
OnePulse is a microsurvey app. Each “pulse” is just 3-4 quick questions and takes under a minute. You get a notification when a paid pulse is available, answer it on autopilot, and the money adds up. At level 9 I get $0.15 per pulse, with 5-10 available per day.
There are unpaid pulses too, but these raise your level which increases your pay rate. Once you get going, $20 (about £16) per month cashes out straight to PayPal. Probably the easiest beermoney going. See more apps like this in the best survey apps list.
10. Get Paid £1 per 5 Minutes with Y-Live Surveys
Y-Live (previously Populus Live) is probably the second best paying survey site after Prolific. Surveys pay around £1 per 5 minutes, which is excellent. The topics are varied and the interface works fine on mobile browsers even though there is no dedicated app.
The catch is the £50 minimum cashout via BACS transfer, so it takes a while to build up. But the pay rate makes it worth the wait. Pay attention to the attention-check questions as they do screen for quality. For more high-paying survey options, see the full survey sites list and market research panels.
What about Freecash and Swagbucks?
You might notice Freecash and Swagbucks are not on this list. These are the two biggest GPT sites online reward sites in the world, and I used to recommend them both. But it’s a bit like any company when they get big, they get greedy. Both Freecash and Swagbucks pay their users less than other sites do for the same tasks. Other sites like CashInStyle and Gemsloot consistently pay more for the same offers. Check the full GPT sites comparison if you want to see all the options.
How much can you actually earn?
Being realistic, using all 10 of these sites and apps, you can earn £100-150 per month with moderate effort. YouGov and MSR are mostly passive after setup. Prolific and Y-Live require active participation but pay well. OnePulse takes 30 seconds per survey. Topcashback and EverUp save you money on spending you would do anyway.
You will not replace your job. But earning extra income with your phone is pretty easy if you have a good combination of sites to use.
