About Voi

Voi runs e-scooter and e-bike hire in a growing list of UK cities under the official Department for Transport trials, including a number of UK cities and towns. Pay per minute through the app, or buy a pass for longer trips.

Sign Up Bonus Details

New Voi riders get £5 in ride credit on your account at signup when they use my referral link. The credit appears as soon as you complete signup and lets you take a free trip or two (most short hops in the trial cities are under £5).

You don't need to take a paid ride to claim it, the credit is granted up front. The referrer side is conditional though, I only earn the £5 once you take your first paid trip after the credit has been used.

Must be a brand-new Voi account, 18+, and in a city where Voi operates.

Bonus amount: £5

How to get your bonus

Step 1

Click my Voi referral link on your phone (it deep-links into the Voi app, or sends you to install it if you don't have it)

Step 2

Create your Voi account and add a payment method

Step 3

£5 in Voi credit is added to your account on signup, no paid ride needed to claim it

Step 4

Use the credit on any Voi ride in your city (most short trips are under £5, so you'll likely get one fully free)

Step 5

After you take your first paid trip on top of the free credit, I earn £5 Voi credit too Must be 18+ and in a city where Voi operates (various UK cities and towns under the DfT trial). Some cities have age 18 + provisional driving licence requirements for e-scooters under the trial rules.

Refer a Friend Bonus

Existing Voi riders can share their personal referral link from the Voi app under the Profile or Referrals section. New riders signing up via your link get £5 credit on their account instantly. You earn £5 in Voi credit once that friend takes their first paid trip (not just the free credit-funded one).

No published cap on referrals. Credit is spendable on any Voi ride or pass in any UK Voi city.

Referrer reward: £5

Referee reward: £5

Frequently Asked Questions

£5 in Voi credit, credited to your account as soon as you finish signing up via my link. No paid trip required to claim it. Most short Voi trips run £1.50 to £4 (a £1 unlock fee plus per-minute charge), so the £5 typically buys you one or two free rides depending on length.

No. The £5 is added to your account at signup. You can use it for a free first ride straight away. The 'first paid trip' condition is on the referrer side, not yours, I only earn my £5 once you've spent some real money on a Voi trip after the credit has been used up.

Voi runs in a list of UK cities and towns under the Department for Transport's rental e-scooter trial. The active list changes as cities are added, paused, or rotated, so the most reliable way to check is to open the Voi app and look at your area. If no scooters show up locally, Voi isn't currently operating there.

For e-scooters under the DfT trial rules, yes, you need a provisional or full UK driving licence (any category). The licence isn't checked for e-bikes. You can add it inside the Voi app during signup, the verification is automatic. No licence, no e-scooter trips, but e-bikes still work.

Privately owned e-scooters are illegal on UK public roads and pavements. The DfT trial covers rental e-scooters from approved operators like Voi, Lime, Dott and Tier only, and only in the participating trial cities. Outside the trial zones, even Voi scooters can't be ridden on public roads. The app enforces the operating area via GPS and the scooter slows or stops at the boundary.

No. Voi flags duplicate accounts (same payment method, phone, device, household IP) and the referral won't credit. Self-referrals are a common way accounts get suspended, so don't try it.
