About Trip.com

Trip.com is a global travel booking site covering flights, hotels, trains and car hire, with a dedicated UK rail product. Owned by Trip.com Group, which also owns TrainPal. Trip Coins are the loyalty currency, redeemable against future bookings.

Sign Up Discount Details

New Trip.com customers get a 30-day UK Traincard when they sign up via my referral link or enter my code DERQ8Y at registration. The Traincard isn't cash credit, it's a 4% discount that auto-applies to UK train bookings made through Trip.com for the 30 days after you sign up.

The 4% stacks with Railcards (so a 16-25 Railcard giving 33% off plus the Traincard's 4% applies on the same booking) and with other Trip.com promo codes. It's capped at 20 train bookings per month and a maximum saving of £200 per month. If you have multiple Traincards (e.g. through multiple referrals or other promotions), the duration extends rather than the discount stacking.

Once you've registered, I earn a matching 30-day Traincard. I also earn Trip Coins, but only when you actually complete a booking: 240 Trip Coins (~£2) for a train booking, or 1,200 Trip Coins (~£10) for a flight or hotel. There's a 10-referral cap on the whole programme.

Worth noting: for UK trains specifically, TrainPal (also owned by Trip.com Group) tends to be the better app because it auto-runs split-ticketing. Trip.com makes more sense if you're booking trains alongside flights, hotels or international travel.

Discount amount: 4%

How to get your discount

Step 1

Click my Trip.com referral link, or visit Trip.com and enter my code DERQ8Y at registration

Step 2

Sign up for a new Trip.com account, the 30-day Traincard is added automatically once you register

Step 3

Book any UK train through Trip.com, the 4% discount applies at checkout (stacks with any Railcard you add)

Step 4

The Traincard runs for 30 days from signup, capped at 20 train bookings and £200 saving per month

Step 5

When you complete a flight, hotel or train booking after signup, I earn Trip Coins as the referrer (you don't lose anything, it's a separate reward on my side) Must be a brand-new Trip.com account. Limited to 10 successful referrals per account on the referrer side.

Refer a Friend Discount

Existing Trip.com customers can share their referral link or code from Account > Invite & Earn inside the Trip.com app or site. Friends sign up via your link or with your code, and both sides receive a 30-day UK Traincard once your friend registers.

You earn Trip Coins when your friend completes a booking: 240 Trip Coins (~£2) per train booking, 1,200 Trip Coins (~£10) per flight or hotel booking that meets Trip.com's minimum payment threshold. The cap on the whole programme is 10 successful referrals, so the maximum you can earn is 10 Traincards plus up to 12,000 Trip Coins from flight/hotel referrals (~£100) and up to 2,400 Trip Coins from train referrals (~£20).

Trip Coins can be redeemed against future Trip.com bookings, though some booking types exclude them, the redemption page shows whether they apply at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's a 30-day discount voucher tied to your Trip.com account that takes 4% off UK train bookings made on Trip.com. It auto-applies at checkout, stacks with Railcards and other Trip.com promo codes, and is capped at 20 bookings or £200 saving per month. After 30 days it expires unless extended by another Traincard.

Yes. The Traincard applies on top of any Railcard discount. So a 16-25 Railcard taking 33% off the standard fare, plus the 4% Traincard, both apply to the same booking. Trip.com promo codes also stack on top.

Usually no, for pure UK train booking. TrainPal (same parent company as Trip.com) runs split-ticketing automatically, which often saves more than 4% on longer journeys. Trip.com makes more sense when you're booking trains alongside flights or hotels in the same trip, or when you want the Traincard's flat 4% as a baseline discount on top of everything else.

Trip.com's loyalty currency. 1 Trip Coin equals approximately £0.0083 (so 1,200 coins is around £10, 240 coins is around £2). They're redeemable at checkout against future Trip.com bookings, though some booking types exclude them. As the new customer you don't get any Trip Coins from this referral, only the Traincard.

Either works for the Traincard. Trip.com pushes the app fairly hard but signing up on the website with my code DERQ8Y at registration credits the same referral and Traincard. The app does include some app-only sale prices on bookings.

No, the Traincard only credits to brand-new accounts. Existing customers can refer friends from Account > Invite & Earn and earn their own Traincards plus Trip Coins per friend who books.
