Portfolio

Updated 18 Jan 2026

What is a portfolio?

Your portfolio is everything you have invested. All your funds, shares, bonds, and cash held in your investment accounts. It’s the full picture of what you own.

Why does your portfolio matter?

Looking at individual investments in isolation can be misleading. Your portfolio shows how everything fits together, how much risk you’re taking overall, and whether you’re too concentrated in one area.

What is a diversified portfolio?

One that spreads money across different types of investment. Some shares, some bonds, different countries, different industries. If one part falls, the others can cushion the blow.

Key points about portfolios

  • Your total investments. Everything you own
  • Look at the whole picture, not just individual holdings
  • Diversification spreads risk. Don’t put everything in one place

Quick Heads Up

I'm just one person running Scrimpr, not a big company or financial advisor.

I make these information and comparison pages because I genuinely enjoy researching financial products and helping UK households make informed decisions. But here's what you should know:

  • Not financial advice: I'm sharing information, not telling you what to do with your money
  • Affiliate links: Some links here are referral/affiliate links - I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you
  • Always check T&Cs: Offers change. Read the full terms on each platform before signing up

Thanks for supporting Scrimpr!
