HSBC Premier Offer Summary
Detailed Information
HSBC Premier pays £500 to new switchers who complete a full current account switch through CASS. On top of the cash, Premier comes with travel and health benefits HSBC values at up to £1,500 a year, including worldwide family travel insurance, digital GP appointments and a multi-currency account at preferential rates.
The catch is the eligibility. You need either a £100,000+ annual income paid into the account, or £100,000+ in savings and investments held with HSBC UK. The current account itself has no monthly fee.
Existing HSBC UK or first direct current account customers don't qualify for the welcome bonus, and anyone who has had an HSBC switching incentive since January 2025 is excluded.

Tips & Things to Watch For
Helpful Tips
- The £500 is the cash, but the real pull for the right person is the Premier benefits HSBC values at up to £1,500 a year (worldwide family travel insurance alone is worth a few hundred)
- No monthly fee as long as you keep Premier eligibility (£100k salary paid in or £100k savings and investments with HSBC)
- Travel insurance needs a separate application after opening and only covers under-70s
- Regular Saver at 5% earns around £81 a year (£250 a month max)
- Payment can take up to 70 days after you meet the criteria
Common Issues
- Thinking you qualify without £100k income OR £100k in savings/investments with HSBC
- Not realising travel insurance requires a separate application after opening
- Being over 70 (excludes you from travel insurance benefit)
- Already being an HSBC/first direct customer or having received a bonus since Jan 2025
- Not maintaining the £100k threshold (account may be downgraded)
- Expecting instant payment - takes up to 70 days after meeting criteria
Need Direct Debits? If you don't have 2 active Direct Debits for the switch, you can support Scrimpr via Direct Debit (50p or £1/month). It counts towards the requirement and helps keep this site free.
