Detailed Information

Bank of Scotland is paying £175 to new switchers who move their main current account using the Current Account Switch Service. You need to open a Classic, Silver, Platinum (or any account with the Vantage add-on) and transfer at least 3 active Direct Debits from your old bank. The reward lands within 14 working days of the switch starting.

Open between 19 May 2026 and 29 June 2026 — the offer can be withdrawn early without notice, so don’t wait. Halifax and Lloyds switchers are excluded (same banking group), and you can’t have received a Lloyds Banking Group switch incentive since 1 January 2023.

Tips & Things to Watch For

Helpful Tips

  • Reward lands within 14 working days of starting the switch — one of the fastest on the market
  • Make sure your 3 Direct Debits are 'active' (have taken payment at least once) before switching
  • Standing orders and recurring card payments don't count towards the 3 DDs
  • If you're switching from Halifax or Lloyds, this offer isn't available — same banking group
  • Watch out for the Lloyds Banking Group cooldown: no switch bonus from BoS/Halifax/Lloyds since 1 Jan 2023

Common Issues

  • Trying to switch from Halifax or Lloyds — same banking group, not eligible
  • Setting up Direct Debits after the switch starts — only DDs transferred via CASS count
  • Confusing standing orders or recurring card payments with Direct Debits — only DDs count
  • Opening a Student, Smart Start, Under 19, or Basic Account — not eligible for the offer
  • Joint accounts where one party received a Lloyds Group bonus since 1 Jan 2023 — disqualifies both

Need Direct Debits? If you don't have 2 active Direct Debits for the switch, you can support Scrimpr via Direct Debit (50p or £1/month) — it counts towards the requirement and helps keep this site free.

Frequently Asked Questions

The switching incentive is only available to customers who meet all eligibility criteria. Not all applicants will qualify, and Bank of Scotland reserves the right to decline applications or withhold bonuses if requirements are not met.

When using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), your previous account is typically closed automatically as part of the switching process. All payments are redirected to your new account for a minimum period of 3 years.

The Current Account Switch Service (CASS) guarantees completion within 7 working days. This includes moving your Direct Debits and standing orders.

Most switching offers have eligibility restrictions for previous customers. Check the specific terms and conditions on Bank of Scotland's website, as you may be excluded if you've held an account with them recently.

Opening a bank account typically involves a credit check. While a single application usually has minimal impact, multiple applications in a short period may affect your credit profile. If you're planning to apply for credit soon, consider the timing carefully.
