Sites need 12 votes before they get a ranking. Community is the share of votes a site has won. Scrimpr is my own rating out of five.
Sign-up offers can change. * marks links I may earn from. 462 votes so far.
The rankings above are a good place to compare cashback sites, but there’s a bit more to getting the most out of them than simply choosing the one at the top.
I’ve been using cashback sites for years, and below I’ll go through my personal favourites, whether paid cashback memberships are worth it, how much I’ve actually earned, and a few other ways to get more money back on your shopping.
The community rankings above are based on everyone’s votes, but these are the three cashback sites I personally use the most.
They all work a bit differently, and I use each for different things. Here’s why they’ve earned a place in my cashback routine.
5,000+ UK retailers, often the highest rates, payouts via PayPal or bank transfer.
I’ve used TopCashback* since 2017 and it’s where I check first for almost any online purchase. Sign up free, search for the retailer you want, then click through to their site from TopCashback — that click is what tracks the sale. Shop as normal. The cashback normally appears as pending within a few days, then becomes payable once the retailer approves it. That might take a few weeks, or several months for things like insurance and mobile contracts. Withdraw to your bank, PayPal, or take it as a gift card (Amazon, M&S, Tesco, etc.) for a small bonus on top.
Example retailers: Mobile and broadband (Vodafone, EE, BT, Sky, Three, Virgin Media), insurance (Aviva, Direct Line, Admiral, Compare the Market, GoCompare), travel (Booking.com, Expedia, Trainline, Jet2, On the Beach), fashion (M&S, John Lewis, Boden, ASOS, Next), tech (Currys, Samsung), supermarket gift cards (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons), plus energy switches and most major UK utilities.
How I use TopCashback: Mobile contract renewals (£30–£60 each), home insurance switches (£50–£100), and Samsung direct purchases (3–5% back). I also run any flight or hotel booking through it before checkout.
The only real downside with TopCashback is how long some cashback takes to pay out. I’ve had two mobile contract offers worth over £60 take more than five months, and one insurance offer took over a year!
Still, I’d rather get £60 in six months than not get it at all.
Instant cashback on supermarket and high-street gift cards, no tracking delays.
I used JamDoughnut* for years, but eventually switched to EverUp* because I was consistently finding better cashback rates at most supermarkets.
It works much the same way. Open EverUp before paying, buy a gift card for roughly what you’re about to spend, and get cashback instantly. You can then use the gift card to pay at the till, or online where supported. The cashback goes into your EverUp wallet straight away, and you can withdraw it to your bank once it’s built up, or put it towards another gift card.
Example retailers: Supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, M&S Food, Waitrose, Iceland, Co-op), eating out (Costa, Caffè Nero, Wagamama, Greggs), high street (Argos, Currys, Boots, B&Q, Halfords, John Lewis, IKEA, H&M), entertainment (Cineworld, Vue, Odeon, Spotify).
I use it for pretty much every Tesco or Sainsbury’s shop, as well as the occasional purchase from Argos, Halfords or a chain restaurant. A few percent back on your weekly shopping soon adds up!
Worth knowing: Cashback rates change regularly, so it’s worth checking before you buy. A supermarket offering 5% one week might only offer 3% the next. Some gift cards also have maximum values, so you might need more than one for larger purchases.
Current rates: Check my supermarket gift card comparison tool for today’s rates across EverUp, JamDoughnut, Airtime Rewards and others.
Link your card, shop as normal, cashback paid as a discount on your mobile bill.
Airtime Rewards* is the most hands-off of the three. Link a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card in the app, then shop as normal. When you pay with that card at a partner retailer, the cashback tracks automatically. Not every card or payment method counts, though: American Express, PayPal, Klarna and store cards don’t track.
It also has Airtime Link, which works like a cashback site for online shopping, and gift cards you can buy in the app.
Example retailers: Health and beauty (Boots), supermarkets (Morrisons), high street (Argos, B&Q, Foot Locker, Harvey Nichols, Tiso), plus a lot more.
How I use Airtime Rewards: Boots has been offering 7% cashback, which I’ve made good use of. Every time I pay in Boots with my linked card, it tracks automatically, including the £7 I got back on a One4All gift card I bought there.
Worth knowing: Rewards normally come off your mobile phone bill rather than being paid as cash. That suits me, but check your network is supported before you sign up. It works on EE, O2, Vodafone and Three, plus giffgaff and Lebara on pay as you go. On other networks you can ask Airtime to pay out to a card instead, but a fee and a monthly cap apply.
BP8EWXLJ at sign-up. You’ll get £2 when you join and spend £5 within 7 days, and I’ll get a small kickback.
The habits I use to stop cashback failing to track are in my complete cashback guide.
There are two kinds of paid cashback membership, and they work very differently.
TopCashback and Quidco are both free to use, but each has a paid membership with a few extra perks.
Whether they’re worth paying for depends on how often you use them. If the extra cashback and bonuses outweigh the fees, great. Otherwise, stick with the free versions.
Then there are the paid cashback clubs, such as NX Rewards and Complete Savings.
These are a different beast altogether. They typically offer 10% cashback on online shopping, with additional in-store or gift card benefits. That’s considerably more generous than most free cashback sites, and I use Complete Savings regularly.
The catch? They charge £18 a month.
You normally join through an offer shown after shopping with one of their partner retailers, rather than signing up directly. You can then claim a monthly bonus equivalent to the membership fee by submitting evidence of a qualifying purchase.
I use both Complete Savings and MyTime Rewards, and claim the monthly membership bonus on each by uploading a photo of a Tesco receipt. That effectively covers the subscription fees, but you’ve got to remember to do it every month!
My Funky Rewards is another similar scheme, although its £15 monthly fee and bonus conditions are different. Don’t assume that a receipt accepted by one scheme will work for another.
These schemes also have a controversial history. In October 2024, the Advertising Standards Authority upheld complaints about Complete Savings promotions that didn’t adequately explain the paid subscription and the steps needed to claim advertised rewards. The criticism wasn’t entirely unwarranted.
So, are they worth it? For me, absolutely. The higher cashback rates can make them considerably more rewarding than free alternatives, particularly if you shop online regularly.
But I wouldn’t recommend them to everyone. If you’re organised enough to claim the monthly bonus without fail, there’s good money to be made. If you’re likely to forget and end up paying £18 a month for something you barely use, give them a miss.
Read my full NX Rewards & Complete Savings guide on r/beermoneyuk for a more detailed explanation of the cashback, monthly bonuses, gift cards and negative press.
It’s all very well talking about cashback rates, but what does that actually mean in pounds and pence?
Here are a few examples of cashback I’ve earned in 2026, all from things I was buying anyway.
Obviously, I don’t earn £166 every time I go shopping! Most months it’s a few quid here and there, with the occasional bigger payout when I buy something expensive. It all adds up, and I don’t have to change my shopping habits to earn it.
There is one thing worth remembering, though. Cashback is only worthwhile if you’re buying something you were going to buy anyway. Spending £100 on something you don’t need just to get £5 back isn’t saving money. It’s wasting £95!
There’s no need to stick to one cashback site. I use several, depending on what I’m buying, and there’s nothing stopping you doing the same.
You can use the filters in the rankings above to find sites offering each type of cashback.
Before buying gift cards or shopping through your usual cashback app, it's worth checking whether your employer offers a workplace discount scheme.
These are often overlooked, but they can offer better rates than the cashback sites available to everyone. Some employers provide access to schemes like Reward Gateway, BHN Extras and Onsi, while Blue Light Card offers discounts to people working in certain professions.
If you've got access to one of these, make sure to check their rates before buying elsewhere. They're not always the cheapest, but you might be surprised at how good some of the offers are!
Save money when you buy discounted gift cards to use at supermarkets, shops and restaurants, or earn cashback through eligible card offers.
Who can get it: Available if your employer offers it
Go to BHN Extras (opens in a new tab)Get discounts on shopping, restaurants and days out, including discounted gift cards available to eligible workers.
Who can get it: NHS, emergency services, social care and armed forces
Go to Blue Light Card (opens in a new tab)Save money when you buy discounted gift cards, including Aldi gift cards, through a benefits app offered by companies you work with.
Who can get it: Available if a company you work with offers it, such as Amazon Flex
Go to Onsi (opens in a new tab)Save money when you buy discounted gift cards or earn cashback when you shop online through your employer's benefits scheme.
Who can get it: Available if your employer offers it
Go to Reward Gateway (opens in a new tab)Yes, plenty of cashback sites are perfectly legitimate, although that doesn’t mean everything always goes smoothly.
I’ve been using TopCashback since 2017 and have always received the cashback I’ve been entitled to. I’ve had two purchases fail to track — a £12 Asda order and a £6 Currys order — but support sorted both out after I submitted missing cashback claims.
I’d stick to established sites, check reviews before joining anything unfamiliar, and remember that cashback isn’t guaranteed until it’s approved.
For general online shopping, TopCashback is my favourite. I’ve used it for years, and it’s consistently been one of the better-paying and more reliable options.
For supermarkets, I generally use EverUp, although JamDoughnut is worth checking too. The best rates change regularly, so there’s no point being loyal to one app if another is paying more!
For cashback that requires almost no effort, Airtime Rewards is hard to beat. Link your card once, shop normally, and let the cashback build up.
You can compare rates using my cashback comparison tools, or see how other Scrimpr visitors rank the sites above.
Absolutely, provided you’re getting cashback on things you were buying anyway.
A few percent back on supermarket shopping might not sound exciting, but it adds up over a year. Throw in the occasional mobile contract, insurance policy or expensive purchase, and you could earn a decent amount without much effort.
The important thing is to use cashback on purchases you were already planning to make, rather than buying something just because it comes with a reward.
I used NX Rewards, but I’ve since moved to Complete Savings, and the cashback rates can be excellent. Both schemes offer high cashback rates, but the £18 monthly subscription is a fairly significant catch.
You can claim a monthly bonus that covers the subscription fee if you meet the qualifying purchase requirements. I make sure I do this every month, but it’s not something I’d recommend if you’re likely to forget.
I’ve explained the different types of paid membership above, and there’s also my full NX Rewards and Complete Savings guide if you want to know more.
It depends entirely on the retailer and the type of purchase.
Some cashback tracks within hours and becomes payable relatively quickly. Other offers, particularly mobile contracts, insurance and travel, can take months.
I’ve had a Just Eat purchase become payable in 48 hours, while one £60 TalkTalk cashback payment took five months. I’ve even had insurance cashback take over a year!
Sometimes, but be careful.
Some cashback sites let you use approved discount codes, while others won’t pay cashback if you use a code they haven’t listed.
I always check the terms before buying. If a discount code saves me more than the cashback, I’ll use the code. Otherwise, I’ll generally stick with the cashback.
Usually, it’s because something has gone wrong with the tracking.
Ad blockers, browser settings, switching between websites and using unapproved discount codes can all interfere with cashback tracking.
My advice is to disable ad blockers for the purchase, accept the relevant tracking cookies, click through from the cashback site and complete your purchase without wandering off to another website.
If it still doesn’t track, submit a missing cashback claim. I’ve had to do this twice with TopCashback, and both claims were successful.
When you click a link with an * and sign up, I get paid a small commission from the provider — usually a few pounds, sometimes more. That's how Scrimpr stays free and how I pay for the time I put into it.
Worth knowing:

Different sites pay wildly different amounts for the same thing — one might pay £10 cashback whilst another pays £15. I like to make the most of things, and I got tired of opening ten apps to compare every time. So I built these tools. They check 30+ sites each day and show you which one is paying the most.
The links in this tool are refer-a-friend links — the same referral mechanic any user gets when they share their own code. When you sign up through one, the platform pays Scrimpr a small referral bonus, the same as if a friend had referred you. That's what keeps the tool free.
